Projects

I am active as a performer which besides offering solo recitals also collaborates with different artists.

Here is a little overview of previous and ongoing projects:

Endless Plain Ensemble was founded in autumn of 2010. The ensemble consists of me and the Islandic guitarist / composer Jon Gudmundsson. Our first cd, moons, mists and mountains, with the music of Jon was recorded in autumn 2010 and released in spring 2011. We are planning to record our second cd this year.

Thogeteher with the Norwegian soprano Kari Raff Reinemo, I perform the 60 minutes long work “Chamber Music” by the Norwegian composer Frederik Brattberg. The work is based on James Joyce’ poem cycle “Chamber Music”. The work fills a program and is working very well in different settings.

2 x Stener Olsen is a cello/guitar duo which consists of me and my brother Olav Stener Olsen. We offer several programs.

Solo as a solo guitarist I offer different programs which spans from renaissance music from Spain and Italy towards the music of today. At the moment I am busy putting toghether a new program.

Violin/Guitar duo in collaboration with different violin players I perform different programs. Often including the music of Paganini and Schubert.

Førisdal/Olsen duo Togheter with my friend and colleague Anders Førisdal I performed a program with music by Haydn/de Fossa, Mertz and Lhoyer for two guitars. The music was played on guitars from 19th century.

Platero y yo was a performance which was based on the text Platero y yo written by Juan Ramon Jimenez and the music by Eduardo Sainz de la Maza and Mario Castelnuovo - Tedesco. Together with narrator Knut Arild Melbøe and dancer Anne Weidner, the three of us formed the Platero ensemble.
